Maya

Maya Struhar grew up inside Spotlight. At age 16, she started touring each summer with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps. In September 2019, Maya moved to Liverpool, UK, where she participated on the Edge Hill University Dance Team and Cheer Squad. Her team won two national titles. Maya graduated from Cottey College with a degree in Organizational Leadership and minors in theatre and dance. She earned her masters degree in 2023 from the University of New Orleans, studying Urban and Regional Planning and is now working for RDG Planning and Design in Des Moines. She Is the Director of Student Leadership for Spotlight and aspires to be a better role model for today's youth. Maya volunteers for Drum Corps International and judges high school marching band competitions in the Des Moines Metro. She enjoys the fresh perspectives and boundless creativity children share through the performing arts..
