The Spotlight offers a professional curriculum for students who wish to learn and experience the joy of dance, and all the rewards that dance training provides for the development of the human body and spirit. We strive to achieve, through the discipline and rigors of dance training, a respectful and joyful environment for all our students as they pursue their goals in dance and in life.

Summer Programs 2018

Our summer workshops are designed to introduce new students to dance classes and to provide seasoned dancers enhanced training. Enjoy exceptional instruction by professional teachers in a motivational environment. All our programs are taught using age-appropriate movement and music in a controlled class size to ensure positive experiences and personal attention. We invite you to discover the rewards of dance training in one of our summer classes designed just for you.

Watch your toddler evolve as she discovers the world of music and movement. Miss Adonica will captivate the mind of your preschooler with four lessons in creative play, music narrative, rhythm builders, and tumbling basics. Learn a simple, follow-along routine to present onstage during The Spotlight annual spring recital. After our demonstration, caterpillars will earn their butterfly wings.
Our annual recital is scheduled for the weekend of April 13. Butterflies will perform on Saturday, April 14 at 12 noon. Class meets Friday evenings (plus Tuesday, April 10). For dancers 2.5 to 5 years in age. Perfect for siblings eager to dance.

Limited enrollment. $40 participation fee.


april 30 through may 24; by appointment

Private coaching for dancers who enjoy performing. Students receive personal direction polishing previous skills and introducing new material. Dancers experience individual guidance to achieve desired goals. Participants rehearse twice weekly during this intense, private training course. At the conclusion of their study, dancers perform the annual One-By-One Exhibition, scheduled for Thursday, May 24. First-come, first-served. Register via Sign-Up Genius:

Tuition per dancer: $250 solo; $150 duo/trio; $100 small ensemble

An acrobat clinic created for any level of tumbler. Students focus on fundamentals necessary to execute quality, controlled tumbling skills. Through conditioning, strength training and repeated drills, tumblers develop good habits and proper techniques that build power tricks such as: roundoffs and aerials. A one month challenge in May. Class times follow:
Tumble Tots=4:45-5:15p; $32 participation fee
Beginner/Intermediate Acro=5:15-6p; $35 participation fee
Advanced/Aerial Acro=6-7p; $39 participation fee

july 5-august 18; 6-7p

Join the Spotlight State Fair Tumbling Team. Let us enhance your gymnastic progressions during a summer developmental course and reward you with a Saturday at the Iowa State Fair. We will target the required elements of the tumbling meet and expand your control and consistency. Learn how to set and achieve personal goals. Our team practices twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays, concluding with the Iowa State Fair Tumbling Meet, scheduled for Saturday morning, August 18. Can’t make it to the fair? Join us for continued summer practice anyway!

$150 participation fee (includes the Iowa State Fair competition entry fee.)
